Camping on South Stradbroke Island is the perfect retreat if you want to escape the fast pace of everyday life to totally relax in a holiday amongst the natural and undeveloped beauty of South Stradbroke Island.

The campgrounds are completely surrounded by native bush and by white sand-dunes facing the blue Pacific Ocean on the Eastern side with the magnificent of the Broadwater on the Western side of the Island. Most visitors get to the Island via their own boat, however, there is also water taxi or ferry access.

There are four campgrounds in all on South Stradbroke Island. The two located at the northern end of the Island are “Bedrooms” and “Tipplers”. “Bedrooms” is near the very tip of the Island and has an amenities block for the use of campers. “Tipplers” is approximately a kilometre south and the facilities include a barbecue area and amenities block. The other two campgrounds are situated towards the southern end of the Island. Currigee is near the southern most end of the Island and has a children's play area, amenities block and barbecue area. North Currigee spreads around an inlet perfect for boat moorings and has an amenities block. Guests to the campgrounds can either use the barbecue facilities or build a campfire in the receptacles provided. One of the best features of South Stradbroke Island is its lack of commercial development and for this reason visitors to the campgrounds are advised to take all their supplies with them.
