A great place to see Australia's amazing heartland, the centre of the Queensland outback and soak up the history and heritage of the legendary township of Longreach... the home of the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Outback Museum.

Longreach and district is home to a variety of man-made and natural wonders. With award-winning tour operators and guides willing to show you an Outback experience that will keep you coming back for more.

The Matilda Highway, Overlanders Way and all coastal access highways are sealed for all year visitation. Traversing unsealed roads will help you to discover off-road destinations.

Outback summers are hot, being less humid than the coast and more bearable, so come out and take a look. Otherwise the best time for visiting Longreach is from early April through to late October.

Come for Easter in the Outback Queensland, held every year and featuring top entertainment and exciting festival activities in Longreach and surrounding townships.

Longreach has great shopping opportunities for travellers to restock before the next leg of the journey, call in to the clothing and apparel stores for general items, or dress up in the latest RM Williams outfits.
